Tips du Jour

Tim says: When I began Tips du Jour 10 years ago, I made a pact with
myself that I would continue publishing the issues until such time as
the morning grind became more work than enjoyment, or -- in other words
-- when it ceased to be fun. I can tell you now that 10 years is a very
long time to be fiddling an hour or so every weekday with ANY kind of
labor of love. During that time, as the Tips du Jour concept evolved
into a more complex organism, so too have the time commitments required
to launch it every morning.
Through the years I have come to know many of you on a first-name basis
through your many email submissions and day-to-day comments. A number of
you have contributed through the years to the expenses that accompany a
"free" publication, for which Rich, Walt and I are grateful. That said,
for the three of us, Tips du Jour, Recipe du Jour, and Desert du Jour
have never been a way to make money; it has always been about the fun of
providing our readers - our community - with a tip, a chuckle, a handy
recipe.
For the entire month of June, I will be revisiting my personal goals and
commitments, including the future of Tips du Jour. Bear with me: it is
not an easy decision to step back and take a questioning look at a
10-year commitment. I will let you know more in July. No matter what may
happen with Tips du Jour in the future, I am not going away. I will
continue to write my Monday and Tuesday Recipe du Jour columns.
Thanks for your continued interest,
--Tim
