Re: Have a working Tkfp59 squash file  Alexander Caldwell

Jerry,

I got the html2ps conversion working on the new coLinux. I used the files I mentioned from the
Slackware .tgz installation package. They were the same ones I had
used on the older Gentoo coLinux. I just copied them over from there
by scp to the new coLinux over my network. I did find one other dependency
on a libpdstk I think it was, that I had not seen before. So I just looked for
those shared lib files in the old Gentoo coLinux and copied them over to /usr/lib on the new Fedora coLinux with
scp and did an ldconfig and then it all started working. I still have to get xpdf
installed and ghostview which I kind of like better than imagemagick's "display"
program for viewing the postscript faxes .

I am also running into an error when I try to load the faxes into
the incoming faxes listbox, If the fax is new, the program is set up to copy over
a local copy of the fax from the server to the client machine. It uses a Tcl socket in binary configuration and worked
fine on all my other machines but I'm getting an error message on every one, and they
do not copy over. I got around it by making a copy locally from the incoming fax
server using scp. But I'd have to do that every time a new fax comes in, so it would
not be practical. I'll have to see if I can figure out why I'm getting the error on this set up
when I had not had trouble with it before. But I can now do progress notes, billing, scheduling and send out faxe Rx refills, so I am making progress.

Alex,

I have been through this drill several times now with html2ps and the
PerlMagick module. The trick is to use Perl 5.8.7 with the PerlMagick
module and the version of ImageMagick that matches it, which is 6.2.3
from Slackware. I think those were the packages for Slackware 10..
Yes, that's all I did was just unpack them.

The exact packages I used were imagemagick-6.2.3_3-i486-1.tar.gz
(note, there was a ....-2.tar.gz, as I recall, and it didn't work
either), and perl-5.8.7-i486-1.tgz

For the last two Live CDs I more-or-less meticulously cataloged and
saved every app and all the symlinks and path changes. if you want, I
can post the Slackware packages.

Don't forget to change the symlink /usr/bin/perl to point to
/usr/bin/perl5.8.7 after you install the packages.

I just checked the file sizes -- perl is about 13 megs and ImageMagick
is about 2.8 megs. I could just post them to the Tkfp website as we
have been doing.

 Jerry,

I was trying the new coLinux Tkfp on Fedora and as I expected, the perl
html2ps
script does not work because Perl is missing the imagick.pm perl module. I
had the
same problem setting up the earlier version of Tkfp on the gentoo coLinux I
can't remember if I just unpacked the whole perl package from Slackware onto
Gentoo (I think that's what I did) , or how I did it. If you have the
packages you used for Tkfp-59 puppy, maybe
you can post those somewhere and I can try that.

Alex
