most amazing architectural landmarks in the world. For example, you can
vote for The Statue of Liberty, the Eiffel Tower, or the Taj Mahal. To
read about each landmark, just click on the picture!

YOUR TURN:

    -Bass, Bass, and Base-

Here are 3 words that can be confusing:

BASS (rhymes with PASS) is a kind of fish:

-I went BASS fishing last week.
-The lake was stocked with BASS.

BASS (rhymes with CASE) is a musical word:

-My friend sings BASS in the choir.
-I used to play the BASS guitar.

BASE is related to baseball:

-My dream was to play first BASE for the Yankees.
-Johnson hit a single, and then stole second BASE.

BASE can also mean the bottom of something:

-He lives at the BASE of the mountain.
-The BASE salary is $30,000.

        -Conditionals (If)-

What's the difference between these two sentences?

-If I have money, I eat at a restaurant.
-If I had money, I would eat at a restaurant.

The first sentence uses the Present REAL Conditional. It means that
sometimes I have money, and when I do, I eat at a restaurant.

The second sentence uses the Present UNREAL Conditional. It means that I
don't have money, so I don't eat at a restaurant.

Can you write more examples of these 2 conditionals?

    -The Accident-

Bobby called his mother from his friend Charlie's house and confessed he
had broken a lamp when he threw a football in their living room.
"But, Mom," he said, "you don't have to worry about buying another one.
Charlie's mother said it was irreplaceable."

1. What does "irreplaceable" mean?
2. What does Bobby think "irreplaceable" means?

    TODAY'S TONGUE TWISTER
<>~~~<><>~~~<><>~~~<><>~~~<><>~~~<>

Practice your pronunciation with this tongue twister:

A flea and a fly flew up in a flue.
Said the flea, "Let us fly!"
Said the fly, "Let us flee!"
So they flew through a flaw in the flue.
