If you weren't at the TCTAA convention in San Antonio, you missed a really good time! The hotel was in a good location on beautiful San Antonio River Walk and we were treated to a great time by members of the 433rd Airlift Wing and the Air Force C-5 loadmaster school from Lackland who set up a tour of one of the 68th Airlift Squadron's C-5As. The 433rd was a troop carrier group in World War II that served in the Southwest Pacific with the 54th Troop Carrier Wing. After the C-5 tour we went over to Lackland and spent some time at the basic training museum, where people looked for pictures of their basic training flight. Some found them. Our next stop was at the Kelly O Club, which is now a civilian establishment, where we had a fantastic buffet in a historic setting.

At the board meeting on Saturday morning our Vice-Chairman, Carl Wyrick, whose troop carrier service goes back to the mid-50s, recommended we set a goal for each member to recruit three new members and to spread the word about our organization. The TCTAA is the only organization that has ever been established to recognize ALL troop carrier, tactical airlift and combat airlift veterans and if you're not already a member, we'd love to have you join with us. Our next convention will be in 2010 with the date and location to be announced.
