Again "Tunguska was a comet"  Andrei Ol'khovatov
 Jun 25, 2009 23:18 PDT

Dear All,

I think that many of you already read the news stories like these:

http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn17375

http://www.news.cornell.edu/stories/June09/TunguskaComet.html

I can say that in my opinion a good point is that the publications
attract attention to a problem in cometary/asteroidal
interpretations of Tunguska - the unusual sky phenomena. As it can be
seen from the publications even the cometary interpretation needs some
"new physics"! In other words, they wrote that Tunguska phenomenon can't
be explained with just nowadays scientific knowledge (that is what I
state for a long...).

Regarding the sky phenomena the situation is even more complicated.
It is because a brightning of the sky was reported in England on the
night 29-30 June, 1908. In other words - about simultaneoulsy with
Tunguska (or even some hours early)! Moreover, there are some evidences,
that similar but less-distinct sky phenomena occured even several days
early!...

So in my opinion, we have still a long way to go to understand Tunguska
especially in detail.

Best wishes,
Andrei
