Well, I don't suppose this reply has a whole lot to do with maths so
maybe I shouldn't have replied to all, but hey, it wasn't my idea to
send it to the undernet-math list. :)

imho, 'Nincompoop' is preferable in that expansion as it fits Homer like a
glove (to coin a phrase, hehe)--in fact, his picture is actually in some
children's dictionary under that word.
|
Yeah, that's a good idea. I think I'll change that acronym to say
Nincompoop, and credit it to both of us. I didn't like Noncompetent
that much myself. Although actually the first part sounds a lot like
Nincompoop.

p.s. Must check out the website sometime. Want to start an ANDREW WILES
expansion competition,

Hmm... that's the guy who proved Fermat's last theorem, right? Well,
any expansions of his name could be added to my mathematicians
acronym tour. At 50, there's only two more of them than there are
drug acronyms at the moment, which is a little concerning. :) Anyway
the competition/webcast/#math visit thing is a good idea.
| | and maybe even set up a webcast and/or IRC Undernet
#math visit with him. Thoughts? If I start a #math topic for such a
competition can we use a link of yours to enter expansion/supplier info and
then perhaps small panel (you, rico and ?) to choose the blue-ribbon
entry???
|
And Tony... he's the one who I started the acronyms thing with, and
who has created the most acronyms (1203.) Though I'd like to include
Eric in the panel too as he's into maths. I guess I could put a form
on my website to enter acronyms as entries to the competition or to
the website/HyperCard stack in general. I've been thinking of doing
something like that for a while. Or if it was okay for people to see
other peoples' entries, there could be a thread in the forum for the
competition.
Oh, and Lowell, I haven''t been on the #acrophobia IRC channel. I
would respond with an expansion for fjskl but they're five just
stinking kinda letters, so it's too difficult. ;-)
