Welllll...
         Linear Algebra has an application in 3d graphics. Transforming a
3d matrix to a 2d screen. However, I don't think you could play first
person shooter games and call it educational.
         Also .... what I would be curious about is how much programmers
really think in these terms. Programmers don't always choose mathmaticaly
elegent methods.
         I wrote a 3d maze program in highschool that only used a 2
dimentional array to tell were maze walls were and where other objects
were. The screen was hidden from the user briefly while the program drew
the viewpoint strarting with far away walls and often drawing closer walls
over the top. (ever play a first person game were you can briefly see
through a wall? .... i believe the same thing)
