Hey PDDT----I heard a little while ago that our own PDDT scored another
victory in the Capdevielle regattta this weekend. The Weatherly regatta
was sailed in Gulfport this weekend and I understand that Baker with
Forrest Richards, and I'm not sure of the other crew, got a sixth and
Scotty with Shelby, and again don't know the other crew, were cancelled
due to squalls. Didn't look too good, but Andy Lovell and Clark Thompson
came on Sun and scored 2 firsts to clinch the victory. Nice going guys
and gals.I believe that we now have at least 5 firsts and a second, so
we are in contention for the lead in the Capdevielle scoring. Dwight
Leblanc won the GYA keelboat Championships in J-22 over Mart Lamar with
Farley Fontenot coming in to help Mart. Nice going Dwight. I noticed
that Pearson Potts finished a respectable 8th in the Optimist Nationals
in Norfolk, Va. I believe there were over 300 kids participating with a
large contingency being from SYC. Marc and Marcus Eagan have won the
Nationals in the Scots in Houston this past week winning a very hotly
contested event. I heard, but have not confirmed that they were in a
three way tie for first with Mark Draheim and Kelly Gough (not sure of
the spelling of their names) and winning the tie breaker. Exciting if
that is how it was. You can probably check the various websites to get
more accurate info. I did not do this yet, but know that Larry Taggart
was also there. I believe that Marc and Marcus sailed under a BWYC
burgee, (they sailed the red boat I think) but I'll claim them anyway
and toot their horn for fun. I don't know how Nancy Claypool is doing
"on the circuit" but she is in Minnosata I believe, sailing Danny
Baird's boat. Good Luck. I also see that our good friend, Augie
Diaz--if you remember he sailed for SYC while at Tulane from say72-76 or
maybe a little earlier---won the Snipe Worlds for a second time. Quite
an accomplishment. Now a FINAL Note---kinda--we have a group going to
Newport this weekend for the Morgan Cup which is a category A team
racing event. Our Skippers are Cardwell, Andy and Daniel. Crews are
myself, Baker (with Cardwell) Jeffy and Cameron (with Daniel) and Watt
and Steven Murray with Andy. Should be FUN. The next weekend finds One
Mo Time going over to PCYC for the Knost with Julie Wilson, Katy Lovell
and Jennifer Bruner driving I think, and I'm not sure of crews yet. Come
on over and ride with us and support the TEAM. Then the next weekend is
the Lipton elims and is surely to be a great event with a lot of talent
sailing. We are overbooked I understand, and have as prospective
skippers the following: Cardwell, Baker, Cameron, Scotty, Andy, Johnny,
Christian, Dwight, Katy, Keith, Ben Montgomery and I'm not sure who else
at this point. Too pooped to pop at this point, so see ya later----
Goooooooo TEAM, and keep up the good work. If those of you that I have
mentioned, or anyone else for that matter, has more and better
information on any of this stuff, please help out and write a paragraph
on your info and get it to Bob Maher AND Kett Cummins for the Tell Tale
and website respectively. One more final note--Merlin is working on a
Challenge Cup party for those of you that participated etc. Thanks, Corky
