Upcoming Annual Meeting

Hello everyone. I hope you will come to our annual general membership
meeting on Thursday, August 27 at 7 PM and Covenant United Methodist
Church. The church is at 8510 Wyoming NE, on the south east corner
of Wyoming and Wilshire, just south of La Cueva High School.
The NM state traffic engineer repsonsible for our area will come to
the meeting for questions and answers. He is responsible for the new
traffic light and lane configurations at the intersection of Paseo del
Norte and Ventura. We have many concerns about this work.
We will also elect board members for the 2009-2010 year. We have no
representation on the board from the following subdivisions: Tierra
Morena, Vineyard 4, Vineyard 4 A & B (Fresno Way, Visalia Way and
the portion of Vina del Sol that you enter from Carmel), Wilshire
Estates, Los Vigils, Ocotillo, and Desert Ridge Place.
If you live in one of these areas, please consider nominating yourself
for the board at Thursday's meeting. The board meets on the third
Thursday of each month at 7 PM. We are usually done by 8 or by 8:30
at the latest. We need board members who can let us know what the
concerns are in their neighborhoods, and will share in the decisions
that we often have to make. We are all volunteers with busy
schedules, so board members are not pressured to spend more time
on neighborhood activities than they offer to.
One priority for the coming year is to increase membership to a level
that allows us to treat weeds in our medians and outside our subdivisions.
Another priority is improving traffic flow so that the main streets
are used effectively and through traffic does not use our neighborhoods.
We also want to establish ACCs in our subdivisions, and try to get
faster action from the City on cleaning up problem properties.
We hope to see you at the meeting Thursday.
