Joe Yardumian's report:
9/23/09
BRIEF MINUTES OF THE 9/16/09 MEETING OF
THE D4 COALITION OF NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATIONS
Guest speaker was Lt. Cliff Saylor from the APD NE Area Command. By way of background he described the NE Area command structure and also noted that there are 6 bike officers who focus on areas having lots of burglaries, eg., 3 arrested yesterday and 20 over the past month. The Montgomery Task Force which focuses on noise and speeding issued over 3000 citations over the past year. The NE Area Command focus is on neighborhoods and property crimes and crime rates over the past year or two have come down substantially.
Lt. Saylor urged residents to be aware of any unusual activity or presence in their neighborhoods and to promptly report any suspicious activity to NE Area Command.
As part of the D4 Community Outreach Program, D4 donated $400 and large amounts of childrens clothing to the PTA.
Some graffiti has been noticed at Domingo-Baca-Park, 311 was called and the graffiti task force responded promptly to clean up.
A ground-breaking ceremony for the Multi-generational Center will be held Thursday, October 1, 2009, 11 AM. All are invited.
Brad Winter had to attend an APS meeting so there was no City Council report
An interesting item was reported during the neighborhood roundtable: A resident living in one of our NAs apparently felt that as she had a doctor's prescription for medical Marijuana, she could grow her own in her backyard. She did, she can't, end of story
