Hi All,
The online listing of forthcoming Feldman performances has been going for just 10 years now (started September 1999). I produced some summary stats at the 5-year and 8-year points, and now I've added the 10-year summary:
www.cnvill.net/mfperfsumm3.htm
A few observations:
1) Rothko Chapel and The Viola in My Life 2 continue to be the most frequently performed works.
2) All the top works on the 5-year summary are still there on the 10-year summary. In the intervening years, Neither, For Philip Guston and Madame Press have joined the list of top performances.
3) Germany continues to be the country where, by a significant margin, Feldman is most often performed, followed by the USA and the UK. In terms of the percentage of total performances, the trend in the USA has been slightly upward, whereas the trend in Germany and the UK is slightly downward.
4) At the other end of the scale, leaving aside the orchestral and choral works which (for the most part) are seldom (if ever) performed, major later works which have been very rarely performed over the past 10 years are: String Quartet 1 (only one performance listed), Violin and String Quartet (2 performances) and For Christian Wolff (4 performances). Compare these numbers with the 26 performances of String Quartet 2, 28 performances of For Philip Guston and 39 performances of Crippled Symmetry!
Of course, I must add the "health warning": The online list in incomplete, though hopefully enough of a sample to have some significance. Aside from the stats, the list hopefully helps fans to get to some of the less widely publicised events.
All the best -
Chris
