You may want to set up the VP/2 Yahoo Groups account so that you have to
personally vette each member that wants to join. I run another YG list
(KeyRing/2) and got hammered by spammers and hate mail mongers until I
changed the signup policy. Some of my members were pretty pissed off too.

There are two modes to subscribe in Allans original mail.
One per http page and one per mail.
I too was shocked by the http link because of the many details
I was asked.
So I chose the second mode to send an e-mail with appropriate
subject and I did not have to open an account with Yahoo.
So I think the second method will be appropriate for anybody, who
is not willing to create a Yahoo account for himself.
