Brothers,

By now I hope you have received my letter updating you on the status of the chapter. We are approaching crunch time. The university is set to take away recognition in 6 days if something does not happen. While it is true that we will regain recognition once the debt is paid off, until that happens Sigma Pi will be prohibited from recruiting, holding social events, having brotherhood events, participating in intramurals, wearing letters, organizing as a group, etc... and we will not be allowed to do any recruitment or new member activities. This is going to kill us if we lose the chance to participate in fall rush which is still the biggest rush cycle at Tech. I know many of you do not know me, but many of you should remember from my travels as your consultant in 1997-1999. I want only to rebuild this chapter so that all of you guys will have a chapter that you can be proud of for years to come. The headquarters is committed to the rebuilding of this group...we don't want to lose them. If we can get the debt resolved with the guys we have there, I know we can make this work, and I will personally be down there during their fall rush with brothers from Radford to make sure that it does.

A few of you have asked how the chapter was able to pay off almost $40,000. They did this through fundraising, everyone in the house paid two room and board fees and all of the chapters semester dues went to the school as well...these guys did nothing but work on their debt. They had no parties or socials, or brotherhood events, outside of their formal which they paid for out of their own pocket.

Please trust me and take one more leap of faith and help us get this debt resolved. You can send contributions directly to the headquarters with the notation Delta-Upsilon Fund, call us and donate via credit card or make a contribution via the web page. If you donate via the web then please send an email letting me know the donation is for VA Tech.

If you have any questions please call, If I can help you please ask. I went to Christopher Newport and we have always had ties with Tech since Danny Phillips was originally from our chapter. I don't want to see us lose this group, but is imperative that we be allowed to participate in the fall rush process and that cannot happen without your help in eliminating this debt.

Thanks for your time.

Fraternally,

Dave
