I am pleased to tell you that earlier this afternoon the total remaining bill
of $15,328.12 owed to Student Programs from the Sigma Pi Chapter
(reference my note below of May 28, 2004) was paid in full. Accordingly, as
promised in my earlier note, I am informing you that we should now
remove the suspension of the Sigma Pi group and restore this chapter to
full IFC membership and recognition by the Office of Fraternity and Sorority
Life. Please take this action immediately.
Let me also make two observations. One, our staff informs me that when
the brothers vacated the on-campus house this past spring, they left the
house in very good condition. In fact, the staff was quite impressed with
the condition and the brothers should be congratulated and acknowledged
for this. Second, let me point out that the payment in full of the balance
due is a real tribute to the brothers, their alumni, their national officers,
and their headquarters staff who worked together to make this happen.
This shows what can happen when everyone works together as a team.
Our congratulations and "well done!" goes out to Sigma Pi. Let's all
continue to work together with them as they seek to rebuild their chapter
here!
Sincerely,
Edward F. D. Spencer, Ph.D.
Associate Vice President for Student Affairs
and
Associate Professor of Higher Education and Student Affairs
