Folks, I wanted to give each of you.... my favorite clients, associates, peers
and friends.... a personal heads up for the 2.5 day information-rich, group-high
tour of my favorite Smart Growth small town cluster in the nation ... in and
around the Seattle area. The best town makers will be on this tour.
We will be met by top city managers, engineers, planners, architects and
landscape architects, as well as developers, to learn the stories of the best
street makers, town makers in the land. Indeed, many of my favorite places that
I talk up in my presentations are on this tour... and you will be able to walk
and talk, photograph and poke at them yourself.
I will be leading the tour along with my best bud, Paul Zykofsky, starting at
noon February 1st, 2010. Sarah Bowman, my associate who you work with will also
be on this magical bus ride. You will also see the town where Lys and I have
chosen to live (Port Townsend, Washington) after working in more than 2,500
other towns.
This event has been scheduled just before the New Partners for Smart Growth Conference,
organized by the Local Government Commission in partnership with the U.S. EPA
(Seattle, Washington). Since space is limited and new found friendships will be
high, I don't want you to miss out. So, if you have any interest, drop either
Sarah (sbow-@glatting.com) or myself a note, give
us a call.... or better yet, go to the www.newpartners.org<http://www.newpartners.org/>
web site and register. The web site has a flyer on the tour and the
registration form as well – just scroll down to the section titled “Small Towns
Pre Conference Tour.” Hey, if you cannot make it, but know who you most
want to have "get the vision," send them this announcement. You will be glad
that you did.

As we discuss good town making principles with others,
t is powerful to have real world examples of healthy,
ivable communities. I experienced this first hand when I accompanied Dan to
amburg, NY to see his work there. Dan also invited Rich Morrison and his
olleagues from Mt. Pleasant, MI to come along. Subsequently, Rich has brought
s to Mt. Pleasant because he saw the results in Hamburg and envisioned a better
t. Pleasant. It's pretty incredible to witness that and to listen to clients,
esidents, officials, emergency responders, health and local community leaders
iscuss how daily life is better because of the work we do. So, please
istribute this link widely. www.NewPartners.org<http://www.newpartners.org/>
Thanks!
