BENEFICIAL EFFECTS OF ALOE VERA

Aloe vera is a plant that has been used since biblical days by
virtually hundreds of thousands of people around the world, as a folk
remedy for its numerous health benefits. The major findings of a
four-year study at the University of Texas Health Science Center at
San Antonio were exciting, to say the least. They showed that animals
which were fed aloe had a longer life span and, at the same time, the
severity of certain health problems was decreased. What has become to
be known as the "aloe aging study" was the first long-term study
documenting the effects of ingested aloe, which was fed to the
animals as gel from the leaves of the Aloe barbadensis plant.

The director of the study, Byung Pal Yu, Ph.D. professor of
physiology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San
Antonio, has worked with aloe for years and had previously identified
a potent antioxidant from the Aloe vera plant. Jeremiah T. Herlihy,
Ph. D., the study's principal investigator and Associate Professor of
Physiology states, "more people in the world take the gel internally
than use it on the skin, and we wanted to begin to document what the
effects actually are."

Yuji Ikeno, M.D., Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Physiology, examined
the aloe-fed rats after death and studied their pathological
profiles. He found that "multiple causes of death were reduced,
suggesting that the pathologic burden was less in those fed aloe
during their lifetime." Additional studies are needed to determine
just what causes the protective effect of aloe gel in experimental
animals. The researchers have laid the groundwork to help document
the beneficial effects of ingested Aloe vera in mammals, including humans.

It is known that Aloe vera contains a wide assortment of trace
elements, enzymes, calcium, magnesium and other minerals,
mucopolysaccharides, peptides and other nutrients that support the
body's natural metabolic processes. In fact, Aloe vera is a rich
source of over two hundred naturally-occurring nutritional substances!

DID YOU DRINK YOUR ALOE TODAY?

Drinks made from the Aloe vera plant are becoming extremely popular
today, and rightfully so. With the increased understanding of the
health benefits from the numerous phytonutrients in plants, this only
makes sense. Aloe vera contains a virtual gold mine of them. New
low-temperature manufacturing processes insure an Aloe vera drink
that is loaded with good nutrition.

Drinking Aloe vera on a daily basis provides valuable support, not
only to the digestive tract, including the colon, but to the whole
body as well. Many people claim increased energy and a feeling of
well-being when drinking Aloe vera routinely.

In order to capture the full benefits of this remarkable plant, great
care must be taken in the manufacture of Aloe vera drinks to make
sure they contain components of the whole leaf. The newest research
shows that not just one ingredient of the inner gel of the leaf is of
value, but several ingredients of the outer part as well.
