Thanks, Nick. In fact, I was contacted by
David Thomas
Emtex
European Sales Manager
and he has offered to have the "right" person (i.e., salesguy ;-) )
contact me.
I appreciate your reply...

Subject: [XLCDS] Looking for software
All,
On behalf of a customer, I am looking for software that has the
following capabilities. I am already investigating two likely
suspects, but I would appreciate it if y'all would make your
suggestions for me to look at...
The software must:
1. Parse incoming Xerox Metacode (and line data with DJDE), AFP, and
PDF - in separate files (not all mixed together ;-) )
2. Be able to extract data from the print stream and apply updates,
such as updating address blocks
3. Drop fields, i.e., be able to delete text on a page-by-page basis
(i.e., not automatically on eery page)
4. Insert fields on an as-needed basis, such as barcodes and text
5. Separate statements within the print file intelligently
6. Create side files with extracted data, such as name, address,
account number, etc.
7. Transform each incoming file type into Xerox Metacode and PDF
8. In the PDF, transform text to text as much as possible, while
preserving all the graphic elements in the input
9. Be able to support compression, password protection, and dynamic
hypertext links in the PDF
10. In the Xerox Metacode, transform text to text as much as possible,
while preserving all the graphic elements in the input
11. In the Metacode, be able to generate both large print files as a
single "report" as well as extract individual statements, still as
complete Metacode print jobs.
I am sure that I'll think of other requirements. Please note that
these are the minimum requirements.
If you have ideas of software that can do all of this and more,
please reply to this list or drop me a line at
mcca-@mhe-consulting.com . Thanks!
Bill
