I Have Given You the Land
Greetings and Salutations!!!
We are going to continue talking about developing our faith until we
really, truly have faith that can withstand anything that life may throw
our way. Once you develop that “God kind of faith”, you will see that
there would be NOTHING that you cannot do. That’s the kind of faith I
want. I want to receive ALL of the promises that were given to me by
grace. I don’t know about you, but I know I am going to do all that I
can to receive my free gifts from the Lord.
But realistically, how DO you develop that kind of faith?
Ok, you’ve read the bible. You know you must have faith. In fact, you
believe you do have faith—but do you really?
OK, let’s see how much faith you really have. Play along with me, OK?
What would you do if this happened to you?
You are not feeling well so you go to the doctors. The doctors run test
on you and discover you have cancer. The cancer is in the critical
stages. The doctor says that he will send you to the best surgeon in the
world and have them try and remove the cancer but in the best case
scenario, you should get your affairs in order because you only have
about six months to live.
What would you do if given this news? Be honest. What would be the first
thing out of your mouth?
Most people, given this deadly news, would automatically be upset,
crying, and perhaps a bit shaky even. The first thing they will do is
call a loved one and tell them “the doctor said I only have six months
to live. Oh my God, what am I going to do?” And the next thing that
happens is the pain start kicking in and they run and start getting
their affairs in order.
We have all been taught, by the world, that when you get cancer, and
especially in the critical stages, you will die.
This is what we have been taught to believe. This is the “worlds” view
on cancer. You get cancer, in the critical stages, you die. Cut and dry.
And yes, most people who get cancer, and whether they are devote
Christian or not, they die.
But that doesn’t have to be the case. You don’t have to accept that
death sentence.
See, if you have faith, you would believe what the bible says about your
sickness. The bible says in 1 Peter 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins
in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live
unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.,
“By whose stripes ye WERE healed.” That means that you ARE healed.
Having faith and believing God’s word means that no matter what the
doctors report says, instead of calling your closest relative and
telling them your death sentence, you would have told the doctor,
“Thanks for your report, but I am already healed. I will have the
surgery, but I will not be dying in six months, thank you very much.”
That is how it works. Faith is believing in God’s word, the words in the
bible, because God cannot lie.
Do you remember the part in the bible when the Israelites were in the
dessert and the 40 years were almost up and God was about to bring them
into the promise land? 12 men when into the promise land to check it
out. And when they arrived back to the dessert to the Israelites, they
were carrying a huge cluster of grapes, so big that it took two men to
carry it. 10 of the 12 men reported to the people that the land was
indeed flowing with milk and honey. However, giants lived in the land
and they would never be able to beat those giants and take over the
land.
Why would they report this to the people?
Because they didn’t have faith in God. God told them that the land was
already theirs. But they looked at the circumstances and saw that the
people who lived there already were giants and men of war. They looked
at themselves and saw that there was no natural way the could beat those
giants and take over their land.
But Joshua and Caleb gave a good report stating that yeah, there are
giants but God has already given us the land. Let’s go and possess it.
And guess what? God killed all the people who believed what he called
the “evil report” and they never got a chance to posses the land. And He
allowed Joshua and Caleb to go and posses the land.
As you believe, so shall it be.
So, the next time you are hit with some devastating news—what report
will you believe? Will you believe the evil report, or God’s word? It’s
up to you. You get what you believe.
