The Truth vs. Circumstances  Dawn Fields

Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things
not seen.

According to the bible, faith is the substance of things hoped for, the
evidence of things not seen.

I don’t know about you, but I couldn’t figure this statement out for the
longest time. Ok, I got the part about faith being the substance of
things hoped for. That made sense to me. But the part I had the hardest
trouble understanding was the second part of that sentence—the evidence
of things NOT seen.

If it is NOT seen, how is the world could there be evidence of it? Does
that make sense to you? If I don’t SEE something, what is the evidence?
I’ve never seen it work that way in court. I’ve watched enough episodes
of Law and Order and Columbo to know that won’t fly in court. When you
go to court, you have to bring as much evidence as you possibly can;
otherwise, you’re just wasting your time.

“Your honor…this is a picture of my car BEFORE she got behind the wheel
of the car. See the date and time stamped on the picture? See the right
fender? No scratches, no dents. And this is a picture of my car, ten
minutes later, AFTER she drove it to the store and back.”
Now that’s evidence.

“What do you mean I didn’t pay that bill? Here is a copy of the bank
record and a copy of the check with your signature on the back dated May
3, 2007.”

Now that’s evidence.

At least that is what we, in the natural, call evidence. Evidence refers
to anything that is used to determine or demonstrate the TRUTH of an
assertion. That’s the definition of “evidence.”

Because we hold true to this belief, it is hard for us to truly develop
real “God like” faith. This is how you get tripped up with your faith.
We keep looking for the evidence. But what we should be looking for is
THE TRUTH.

What do I mean by that?

The truth is what the bible tells us about our situation.

For instance, CIRCUMSTANCES dictates that you are broke, po’, no cash,
nada, not a drop. Your bank account is on zero. But you decide to live
by FAITH and not by CIRCUMSTANCES. So, you go to the bible and see what
the word says about your situation.

The bible says that God has already, by grace, given you the promise
land. Whatever you ask for, and believe, shall be given unto you.
This is the TRUTH. God does not lie.

But we don’t BELIEVE God. We believe what our circumstances is showing
us. There’s no money in my bank account. I am sick and will probably die
from this sickness. My marriage is over.

Whatever your circumstances may be—we look at the evidence and not what
the word tells us.

YOU ALREADY HAVE THE VICTORY.

All that is required of you is to have FAITH that it is YOURS and it
will BE yours.

But you can’t have little, sad, wishy washy faith. You have to believe
with all your heart that what you say, you can have. God listens to our
hearts.

But how do you change your heart. How do you change that strong hold
that tells you that the evidence of your circumstances is stronger than
God’s words?

YOU REPEAT THE TRUTH TO YOURSELF OUT LOUD OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND
OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

In addition to repeating the truth, you visualize the truth. You do this
UNTIL IT BECOMES TRUE TO YOU.

That’s how you develop faith.

Let me give you an example.

Circumstances shows that your bank account is in the negative and you
have three days left until pay day. You have just enough cash in your
pocket to get back and forth to work. But you don’t have any money to
buy yourself something to eat. There’s no food in the refrigerator and
you HAVE to eat for the next three days or else.

Your next move is to go to the bible. There’s a verse that says, “The
Lord provides all of my needs, according to his riches and glory in
Christ Jesus.”

You say this verse to yourself over and over again. I don’t mean just
say it once. I mean say it for an hour, two hours, however long you can.
Say it out loud. Instead of watching television, confess the word. While
you’re driving into work, in the car, by yourself, confess the word.
While you’re showering, confess the word. Just confess it all day long
if you can.

While you’re confessing it, visualize yourself eating lunch with your
co-workers. Visualize yourself eating dinner. Visualizing your self
being able to make it, easily, for the next three days.

If you truly do this and you FEEL THAT SWITCH—cause there is a switch.
There’s this feeling when you go from simply saying the words and not
really believing them but saying them anyway—to saying it and truly
believing it in your heart. You can FEEL it because all of a sudden you
are at peace with whatever you are confessing. You simply KNOW that what
you desire will manifest and so you no longer worry about it. You no
longer feel you have to even think too much about it because you already
KNOW without a shadow of a doubt, that it will happen.

When you reach this point, you will see that someone calls you up and
invites you out to lunch. Someone calls you out of the blue and offers
to take you to dinner. All of a sudden your Mom stop by with one of your
favorite dinner plates just cause she was in the neighborhood.

I don’t know exactly how it will happen. If I knew that, I would be God
(hummmm that would be nice). But these are examples of what could and
would happen once you truly develop faith.

Developing your faith is the best thing you could do for yourself. Trust
me on this one.
