A Mind is a Terrible Thing to Waste

I’m not that big on television these days, but when I was growing up,
there use to be this commercial which advertised the United Negro
College Fund. There would be different situations in each commercial,
but it always ended with a man’s voice—I think it’s the guy who now is
the spokes person for All State Insurance, I don’t know his name—but it
ended with his voice saying “A Mind is a Terrible Thing to Waste.” That
was their slogan at that time. Might still be. I don’t know. Do they
still play this commercial? Basically, the commercial was pointing out
the importance of furthering your education.
When I sat down to write this email to you, the thought came to me that
A Mind is A Terrible Thing Not to Learn How to Control.
Do you really know how powerful your mind is?
I’ve heard stories about people believing they were in a freezer and
given information that they were freezing, and although they were
actually in a room that was room temperature, their belief caused them
to freeze to death. That’s how powerful the mind is. Crazy right?
I also heard about experiments they do with medicine where they give
people some fake medicine but tell them that it will heal whatever
symptom they are having and sure enough, the people take the medicine
and believe that they are being healed and sure enough they begin to
feel as if they are getting better. But the medicine is no more
medicated than a piece of candy.
Your mind is incredibly powerful.
People have died from fear that was only in their mind.
The mind is where our beliefs are stored. The mind is where our faith is
created.
The bible tells us that whatever we BELIEVE when we pray, will be given
unto us. This means that you can have whatever you BELIEVE you have.
Believe you are broke all the time? Guess what? I’m willing to bet you
are broke all the time.
Believe you can do anything? Guess what? I’m willing to bet you are a
person that can do anything you put your mind to doing.
Believe you can’t do something? Right again.
It’s all in the power of believing. Having faith is truly BELIEVING that
you already have what you desire and want. It’s the substance of things
HOPED for and the evidence of things unseen.
But since the mind is the part of you where your information is stored,
how do you control the mind so that you can develop your faith and your
beliefs so that you may have the things that you desire?
You don’t wait until your bank account says you are a millionaire to
believe you are a millionaire. You believe it first.
You don’t wait for the doctor to tell you that you are healed in order
for you to believe you are healed. You believe it first.
You don’t wait until evidence shows you that your marriage is going to
work out, you believe it first.
Well, how do you believe it when your bank account is on empty?
You develop the faith where you don’t allow the “circumstances” to
control your life. You create a “confession” or an “affirmation” which
states “I’m rich beyond my wildest dreams.” And you confess the
statement over and over and over OUT LOUD to yourself. Confess it while
you’re in the shower. Confess it while you’re cooking breakfast. Confess
it while you’re getting dressed. Confess it when you’re driving into
work. Confess it while on your lunch break. Confess it on your drive
home. Confess it whenever you have free time.
If you tell yourself something often enough, you will eventually start
believing it. Once you truly believe it in your heart—you have developed
faith. And once that happens whatever you desire will manifest for you.
Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God. God word says you
shall have whatever you ask when you pray and believe.
You can have everything you desire if first you believe and have faith.
