Two Kinds of Faith  Dawn Fields
 Jul 24, 2008 09:37 PDT

Be honest with yourself…you have two kinds of faith, right? The faith in
what you see (the actually circumstances that are happening in your
life) and then you have faith in the Word (sounds beautiful but you
don’t see it happening in your life).

The Word says that Jesus came so you could have life and have it more
abundantly. But the reality feels as if you aren’t experiencing any
abundance in your life.

The Word says “by His stripes you were healed.” But the doctor just told
you that lump in your breast is cancerous.

The Word says, “whatever you ask for and believe will be given onto
you.” But you’ve been asking but nothing is being given unto you.

How come, if you are having faith, your life is not in alignment with
what the Word actually says? This is a problem because it appears as if
God simply is not answering your prayers. But the Word says he will.
What’s wrong?

What’s wrong is that we have two kinds of faith.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m no EXPERT on this but I do what to share with
you what I’ve learned and hope that what I have learned will help you in
some way. I know what you are going through. I know because I’m going
through it too. I think I’ve gotten it down to a science. Listen to
this…

Being born again, we are operating in two worlds. The “Flesh” world,
meaning the world we were born into by birth from our parents, and the
“Spiritual” world, the world we are born into when we are born again.

Now, for however many years you walked the face of this world, and
learned how to live in this world, and created what is called
“strongholds” from this world, they have become a part of your flesh.
But when you are born again, you have a new spirit on the inside of you.
This new spirit is part of the “Spiritual” world. Our goal is to remove
as much of the “Flesh” we developed from being in the flesh world
(meaning to destroy all of the strongholds and beliefs we developed in
this world by the renewing of our minds) and become more spirit—or more
like our new Spiritual man (or woman).
When we grow more spiritual and become more spiritual than flesh, we
will be more able to emerge our faith from the two kinds of faith into
one faith—believing in only what the Word says and not what our
circumstances around us may be saying.

For examples, although the circumstances may show that there is lack in
our bank account and the electric bill is over due, the Word says, “My
God supplies all of my needs. According to His riches and glory by
Christ Jesus.” The Flesh part of us would say, “yeah, that’s all good
and dandy but my lights will be off next Friday if $350 isn’t paid.”
But, if we somehow conquer the flesh and become more spirit, our spirit
would say, “thank God I have until next Friday. I know God will provide
a way somehow so I’m not even going to concern myself about it.”

Sounds crazy, right?

That’s because you are operating mainly from the flesh and not from the
spirit. If it doesn’t sound crazy to you, than Kudos to you, you are on
your way.

When you are operating in the flesh and the doctor says, “I am sorry to
report but the lump we found on your breast is cancerous and advanced.
I’m sorry to tell you but, you have six months to live.” You will get
upset, cry, ask God why, tell all of your friends and family the bad
report, and start to get your house in order. Because you are
Christian, you’d probably ask people to pray for you. But you have
already accepted what the doctor says is truth.
If you are operating out of the spirit, you will say, “I refuse to
accept that. By His stripes, I was healed. This means I’m already healed
from all diseases. Jesus already bore my sickness. I will live. Watch
and see.” And then, you only tell your friends and family to ask them to
be in agreement with you and because you know if two or more people are
in agreement, God is in the mist, you ask them to pray for your speedy
healing. You never, not once, claim cancer or sickness. Even if the pain
comes, you still walk the floor confessing your healing.

If you are operating out of the flesh, and you ask God for something,
and you do not receive it, it’s only because you don’t truly believe.
But I must add…God is not like “I Dream of Jenny.” I may be dating
myself and some of you may have never heard of this. But I Dream of
Jenny was a television show where this guy named Major Nelson had a
Jenny that lived in a bottle. All he had to do was ask Jenny for
something and she would fold her arms, and nod her head, and it would
happen for him. (Most times she messed it up, but, hey, it was a sitcom,
want do you want from me?) I say this because most of us ask God for
something and think it is supposed to happen right this instant. I’m not
saying that it can’t happen that way, but most times it doesn’t. And
because there isn’t any instant gratification, most of us operating out
of the flesh, give up and stop having faith. We say, “well, God doesn’t
answer my prayers.” Or even better we say, “I guess it wasn’t God’s
will.”

But if you are operating out of the spirit and you ask God for
something, you have a peace about it because you KNOW in your all
knowing, that God is on the case and when the circumstances permits,
whatever you asked for will materialize. You go around as if what you
have asked for has already happened because that’s how much you KNOW it
will soon come from the spiritual world into your world.
Whether you realize it or not, we live in two worlds at all times—the
flesh world, and the spiritual world. Most of us have not reached the
point where we can see into the spiritual world. But that doesn’t mean
it doesn’t exist.

Remember the story in the bible where Elijah was about to be killed by
the King? Please forgive me, but I’m being lazy right now and don’t feel
like getting up and getting my bible (it’s all the way in the other
room. I think the story may be in the Book of Kings). But feel free to
look it up. I’m just going to paraphrase the story and hope I get it all
right. But Israel was at war with this country and the King couldn’t
figure out how was it that every time they went into battle, Israel knew
all of their secrets and their moves before hand. He thought he had a
spy in his camp. He said one day, there must be a spy in my bedroom
because I don’t mention our strategies to anyone but by the time we
begin battle, Israel already knew what we had planned. His servants
informed him that there wasn’t any spy, but Israel had a Prophet in
their camp. So, the king plotted to kill Elijah. In Elijah’s house, one
morning, it was just him and his servant, Elisha. His servant went
outside to get something, I think, and looked up and noticed they were
surrounded by the opposition’s army. He came to Elijah and announced
that they were getting ready to die. But Elijah, who was more spirit
than flesh, simply said, without batting an eyelash, that he was not
concerned because his army outnumbered their army. Now the servant, who
was operating out of flesh more so than spirit, I’m sure, thought Elijah
was crazy. I know if it were me, I’d probably would have said, “Elijah,
what you smoking? There are just 2 of us and hundreds of them.” I can’t
remember exactly what he said, or if what he said was even recorded. But
I do know that Elijah asked that God open his servants SPIRITUAL eyes.
And when he did, the servant saw that there were thousands of angels
ready to go into battle for Elijah. But he couldn’t see that until
Elijah asked God to open his SPIRITUAL eyes.

So, whether you realize it or not, there is a Spiritual World that
exists outside of what you can see. And when you pray AND HAVE ONE
FAITH, and that faith is TRUE BELIEF, the angels in the spiritual world
will go to battle FOR YOU. The Spiritual World is ready to conquer your
financial problem. The Spiritual World is ready to heal any diseases.
The Spiritual World is ready to bring all that you ask of God, to you.
The only thing that is required of you is to have TRUE FAITH. And that
is faith that comes from your spirit. Not from what your friends say or
your family say, what your circumstances says or even from what you may
have learned growing up. Reality in the flesh world is totally different
from reality in the Spiritual World. Reality in the flesh world tells us
that 7 fishes and two loads of bread can only feed about 7 people, who
may still be hungry after they eat. But in the Spiritual World, we know
it can feed a whole lot more.
