List Name Discussion of all sorts of bicycle programs for kids (youthcycling)
Purpose: Welcome to the Youth Cycling Network! This list springs from a meeting held on December 3-6, 1998 in Colorado Springs. This meeting, which drew particpants from all over the USA and Canada, was a forum for the discussion of bicycle programs for children. This meeting was the first of its kind, but it won't be the last. This list was established to continue the dialog.

The conference also gave birth to a new organization, the Youth Cycling Network.
The YCN is an informal organization whose mission is to promote communications among people interested in developing and running bicycling programs for children. The activities of the YCN include:

- Maintaining this E mail list
- Developing and maintaining a website. This site is currently at
http://www.cbc.umn.edu/~tomikeda/youthcycling.html
- Organizing annual meetings

Some basic guidelines for the mailing list:

* Please keep your submissions "on topic". The topic for this list is
bicycle programs (all kinds) for children (through 18 years old). We can be relatively flexible, but please don't stray too far.

* No advertisements or "for sale" posts, please.

* Treat all other participants with respect. Feel free to disagree with
them, but don't question their species of origin or make anatomically
unreasonable suggestions.

* Can we agree to avoid USAC politics? That topic is very adequately
covered by uscf-rap@cycling.org. To subscribe to that list, send the
following to majordomo@cycling.org
